The Bears Choose To Stay The Course

Chicago’s NFL franchise seems to be adrift.

The Bears have moved beyond terrible but are fully stuck treading water in the Sea of Mediocrity. GM Ryan Pace fell in love with the worst of the 2017 First Round QBs, taking known Tar Heel Mitchell Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes and Deshawn Watson. Head Coach Matt Nagy then capitalized on that mistake by forcing Trubisky to play in an offense that minimized his skillset.

Despite all of this, the Bears backed into the 2020 playoffs. And that sentence explains why a vocal portion of the fanbase was calling for a housecleaning.

But the Bears have a plan.

Bears managing partner George McCaskey reads the statement in which the Bears announce the franchise is retaining Pace and Nagy. Pretty sure he’s reading it verbatim because he’s not buying any of it- otherwise why would he look like a guy reading a prepared confession in a show trial?
